These Kerala-Based Engineering Students Created ‘Trackiie’. An App That Helps You Find Misplaced Phones.

Many of us keep our mobile phones on silent mode only to end up searching for it around the whole house. To avoid this problem, four students from Malabar College of Engineering and Technology, Thrissur, have developed an application called ‘Trackiee’ that would help people find their phones.

Final year computer science engineering students Ramees Rahman, Amritha Satheeshan, Praveen K.J. and Nithina Prakashan are the masterminds behind the app that helps people find misplaced phones.

“All of us have been in the same situation. When we are in a rush to go somewhere, suddenly our phone is missing. If the phone is on silent mode, then the trouble doubles. ‘Trackiee’ was created from this simple thought. There are other similar applications. But this app stands out as it doesn’t need an internet connection to operate,” says Ramees.

The students have made the application as part of their academic  projects.

Android users can download the application from Google Play Store. You have to set up a four-digit password to use the app. If the phone is on silent mode, by sending a text message from another phone in the format “password”@ring, the phone would automatically change its mode to general. Similarly, the app enables you to change the general mode to silent and vibrate as well. All you need to do is send the command in the prescribed format.

If you want to get a callback from your phone, you can message the command “password”@callme. This wholesome application has commands for getting your phone location, play alert, locking the phone, IMEI number, changing brightness, and getting the contact number.

At a young age, these students have developed an application that is useful to most of us. Hopefully, this achievement will inspire them to create more such apps in the future.
