Kerala Not Top State This Year But Still Wins Big At National Tourism Awards

Compared to previous years, Kerala did not win the top prices at the national tourism awards 2013-14 by the Ministry of Tourism.

Last year (2012-13), the state had won:

  • Best State/Union Territory Comprehensive Development of Tourism (Rest of India)
    Second Prize
  • Best Civic Management of a Tourist Destination (Category C City) – Kumarakom Grama Panchayat, Kerala
  • Most Innovative use of Information Technology
  • Most Innovative and Unique Tourism Project – Kochi Muziris Biennale Project
    Department of Tourism, Government of Kerala

This year Kerala didn’t get into the top state category. Gujarat was the winning state. The State did win big in other categories:

Best 3 Star category hotel
The Marari Beach, Mararikulam
Best 4 Star category hotel
Vivanta by Taj Kumarakom
Best Heritage (Classic) category hotel
Coconut Lagoon, Kumarakom
Bed & Breakfast category approved by the State Government
Coconut Creek Farm and Homestay, Kumarakom

Excellence in Publishing in Foreign Language other than English
Eat Shop Trek [Essen Shoppen Wandern in German]
